The Tohoku-style izakaya “Ou no Utage”, located near Akihabara and Okachimachi, will offer its signature butter-grilled shijimi dish using fresh, unfrozen jumbo Yamato shijimi clams harvested from Lake Jusan in Aomori Prefecture for a limited time and in limited quantities.
The special offering begins on Thursday, July 23, 2026 and will remain available only while supplies last.

When placed next to ordinary shijimi clams, the difference in size is immediately clear.
The clams arriving at Ou no Utage are jumbo Yamato shijimi harvested during summer, the season when shijimi clams from Lake Jusan grow especially large.
Compared with regular shijimi, they have not only larger shells but also more substantial meat, allowing guests to enjoy the natural umami and satisfying texture of the clams.

While many shijimi clams distributed on the market are frozen, these jumbo clams are shipped directly from Aomori without being frozen after harvest.
To preserve their freshly harvested flavor and texture, the restaurant carefully purges and prepares the clams before cooking each order.
Butter-grilled shijimi is one of Ou no Utage’s most popular signature dishes, combining the natural umami of shijimi clams with the rich flavor of butter.
During this special season, the regular clams are replaced with jumbo clams, creating a limited version with a fuller texture and more concentrated flavor.

The dish is priced at JPY 1,200 including tax.
Even during the period when jumbo clams are used, the price remains the same as the regular butter-grilled shijimi dish.
The size and quantity of the clams may vary depending on the daily catch, and the dish may occasionally be unavailable due to limited supply.
